Cassandra Burnett, Bellflower Art K-5 & MMS 6th Foundations

My name is Cassie Burnett, and I am looking forward to a fantastic year at Bellflower and Memorial! I am honored to be a part of the Mentor Art Department, and the opportunity to create and share with students in this community fills me with gratitude each day. This is my 18th year as an art educator, having previously taught Elementary and Middle School Art in Maple Heights and Buckeye (Ashtabula), and substituting K-12 Art for Orange and Mentor.

 

My educational philosophy engages students to use art as a medium to create, collaborate, and communicate their ideas. Students explore and solve problems, find their voice, and persist through challenges within the context of artmaking. I believe fostering independence is key in facilitating the development of lifelong learners and creative thinkers. I include choice-based and therapeutic art techniques to meet students' social-emotional needs within our standards-based visual art curriculum.
