Donna Fiore » Welcome to Mrs. Fiore's Art Room

Welcome to Mrs. Fiore's Art Room

I'm honored and proud to be a Mentor Art teacher. I am a resident of Mentor and an alumni of the Mentor Schools. As a student I experienced first hand the excellent education the Mentor Schools provide, especially the Art department! I now continue to strive for that excellence as a Mentor teacher.

I believe that art education is essential to enriching the lives of children by developing creativity, critical thinking, self-expression, and cultural awareness. Art helps a child to make connections with their self and the world around them. Art encourages students to perceive their self as individuals whose insights and contributions are valued and vital to their communities.

It is a joy to get to know each and every one of my students & a true honor to be able to provide them with artistic & creative experiences. It is my wish that every child leaves my Art class with a greater appreciation for the world of Art.

Sincerely,

~Mrs. Fiore

Mentor Middle Schools Art Program

Through the Mentor Public Schools Art program students have the opportunity to use a variety of two and three-dimensional media to explore the Visual Arts standards and benchmarks in their grade level.

In middle school, all 6th grade students chose two electives. Our Art electives are: Exploratory Art (one semster, the other semeter is Exploratory Music) and Art Foundations (full year.) 7th grade students also choose two electives; Art options are Art Explorations (one semster, the other semester is Exploratory Music) and Fine Art.

The Fine Art track begins in 7th grade with a full year of course work and continues at Mentor High school. Students need to be recommended for Fine Art each year in order to continue.
