Creating student success in school, work and life! Some students think of art class as little more than "just drawing", but there is much more that can be learned in art! Art can help students with project development skills, learning a variety of hands-on techniques, developing time management skills, building a sense of pride and achievement and art provides an opportunity to meet new people. We believe that the arts are VITAL in providing a well-rounded education for our students and that art education promotes student success in school, work and life. Successful completion of any of our art courses fulfills portfolio requirements for the following: the Mentor High School fine arts requirement for graduation, the Academic Honors Diploma fine arts requirement, Arts Honors Diploma fine arts and electives requirements,   Fine and Performing Arts Seal, and visual/performing arts requirement for the College Core.

MENTOR ART ROCKS!

Whether you are a student, educator, parent, or principal, you can find a way to celebrate the arts in education, like when Artist Neal Hamilton met with our students in 2017.   If you have visited Cleveland Hopkins Airport, you would have seen his artwork! Here is the video of his presentation in the Paradigm at Mentor High School: https://youtu.be/np3nNBFca6M

Calling all MHS Art Alumni!

As an MHS alum, you play a critical role in our students' and our community's understanding of the arts! We are actively working on ways to keep you connected with us and with one another. We developed this survey with the goal of communicating with our alumni in the hope that we can share the best opportunities and most useful resources with our current art students and inform our stakeholders about careers in art. Preparing for Colleges and Careers in Art!

To Our Parents of Artists:

We are planning our second biannual College and Career Fair for the Visual Arts.  The first fair was held on on Feb. 6, 2023 for grades 8-12 art students who attended during their art classes. We also plan to hold an informational meeting for parents about various occupations in the arts industry or art related fields on a different day, potentially the year opposite the College and Career Fair for the Visual Arts. We are asking that you complete this short survey so that we may get a better idea how to serve you. Link to survey: https://forms.gle/ah6buuQAtZaWNVKC7
Thank you for your continued support of the Mentor High School Art Program!
