Media Center Access Email to Parents and Guardians

Dear Parents and Guardians,

In July, our Board of Education passed a policy to provide parents/guardians with the ability to control what library/media center materials your student is able to access in our schools – via  two choices - “Open” or “Reserved” (restricted) access. Also per the policy, regardless of access choice, all parents and guardians will receive email notification of any material checked out of the media center.

Under “Open Access”, the library assistant would allow the student to check out the selected material at that time.  An email will be sent with the title of the material to alert you to what your student has checked out of the library that day. This would be similar to how students have checked-out materials in the past. If you are okay with open media center access, you do not need to do anything further at this time.

Under “Reserved Access”, the library assistant will send home a library/media center material checkout permission slip that will need to be signed and returned to the media center before the student can have access to the material.  Once the permission slip has been returned, the library assistant would then give the material to the student on the next media center visit.

If you would like to select “Reserved Access” for your child, please fill out the form in Infinite Campus so we can get the appropriate notifications set up in our media center checkout system. This would need to be done individually for each child. The form will only be active through Friday, August 15th, to allow us time to get the system set up before the start of the school year.

Sincerely,

Craig Heath
